Lyman Allyn Art Museum
625 Williams St, New London, CT 06320-4199
The Lyman Allyn Art Museum welcomes visitors from New London, southeastern Connecticut and from all over the world. Established by a gift from Harriet Allyn in memory of her seafaring father, the museum opened the doors of its beautiful neo-classical building in 1932. Today it houses a fascinating collection of over 17,000 objects from ancient times to the present: artworks from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe, with particularly strong collections of American paintings, decorative arts, and Victorian toys and doll houses. Outside, a sculpture trail highlighting large scale works is surrounded by 12 acres of gardens and lawns. Throughout each year, the Lyman Allyn offers special programming including exhibition openings, lectures, educational opportunities, and musical events for families and the general public. Guided tours, self-guided exploration, and tours customized for a group's needs or goals are all available.

New London Ledge Light
New London, CT 06320
The Ledge Light Foundation is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that has been responsible for restoration and preservation of Ledge Light for 30 years. In 2014, dedicated volunteers from the Foundation wrote the application to the GSA/NPS for the New London Maritime Society to obtain ownership in an effort to keep Ledge Light in local hands. The Ledge Light Foundation continues its work under this new ownership. The Foundation continues the upkeep, restoration and preservation of Ledge Light maintaining an Interpretive Center within the lighthouse complete with historic and photographic exhibit panels in most rooms, a theater showing a compelling documentary about its history, a furnished keeper's room and a gift shop. Tours run to the lighthouse and visit INSIDE during the summer months in partnership with Project Oceanology using their boat. The tours are run solely by the Ledge Light Foundation and are the only tours that take visitors inside the light. As the Maritime Society owns the building, that's as a landlord only. They have nothing to do with the restoration work which is all-volunteer and done by the Ledge Light Foundation. The Maritime Society is only the landlord. Please direct any inquiries to our website. The Maritime Society knows nothing about the tours or the work done. Visit our website tour page for information about the Foundation and to purchase tickets for tours.
